    This site uses it. The author info widget, twitter and flickr widgets at the bottom are included and everything in the above post.

    Hello, I am the guy who use weaver in this page:

    You are doing an excellent work at here and i am really thinking in change my template to twenty eleven, doing some modifications…

    Let me ask you something, and perhaps from this answer i will change or not. I need this theme with 2 sidebars: one on the left and one on the right. I need the left to be 180px and the right to be 310 px of width. I need Two menues nav, the first in the top of the theme, then the site title and the header widget, and below that the second menu nav.

    I need two the home to have excerpted posts with featured image, something like i already have in my site. So, if you answer me Yes to all of that, believe me, i will change to Twenty eleven and i will be a great fan of your site n.n

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Harry, my child theme already uses post thumbnails and excerpts.
      I think the second navigation would not be hard to add, but I haven’t done it with this theme yet.

      I’m in the process of adding new layouts. I’ve added an extra widget area in my test theme that will display left and right sidebars, 2 sidebars on left, or two sidebars on the right, but it’s not ready yet. The css is giving me problems, but I’ll work it out eventually.

      I would stick with Weaver for now, it’s stable and has many nice features you would need to edit my child theme in order to have.

      1. Zeaks

        Little update on this. Here’s what i have so far…
        – Added tabbed content shortcode
        – Move all shortcode functions to shortcodes.php
        – Moved shortcode css to it’s own stylesheet
        – Moved theme options to theme-options.php
        – Added second menu #access2
        – Removed wp_nav fallback wp-list-pages, changed to fallback_cb – as some users may want to only use the new top menu.
        – Added 3 new layout, Wide one column
        -Added 6 new color schemes
        – Added excerpt length function to compensate for different width layouts
        – Cleaned up css, reduced transition delay time
        – Cleaned up functions.php.

        I’m working on adding the shortcodes to a plugin for this theme but it isn’t done yet, I’ve never made a plugin before so I’ll leave them in the theme for now.

    I really like the Nom-Nom theme. I suggest adding the capability for the home page except size to be increased.

    Until then, can you point me in the direction to tweak the except size? I”d like it to be about double your current setting.

  4. Zeaks

    Add this to the functions.php and change the return number to whatever you want to control the length of excerpts. I’ll add this to the next version.

    // This changes the excerpt length, change 40 to whatever you want
    function change_excerpt_length()
      function new_excerpt_length($length){return 40;}
      add_filter('excerpt_length', 'new_excerpt_length');
    add_action('after_setup_theme', 'change_excerpt_length');

    Hello zeaks,

    I have a question: how can i have that [private] feature in my site? Is that a plugin? I am using weaver :)

  6. Zeaks

    You need Twenty Eleven theme installed first, which is the default WordPress theme. Just upload NomNom Appearance > themes > install theme.

    1. Zeaks

      Update on this. I was going to release it today, but decided to include a Google font selector. I just need to sort a couple things out, so it may take an extra day.
      I have the new version running on this site now.

    I dont know why I got this error when I want to activate your child theme.
    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare _verify_isactivate_widgets()

    Your child theme is really damn cool but the sad part is I cant activate it as my theme. :(

    help please!~

    1. Amar

      the continuation of the error message.

      ..wp-content/themes/NomNom/functions.php:183) in /wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/functions.php on line 616

      1. Zeaks

        Open functions.php and remove the ?> and let me know if that helps. If not, could you please start a forum topic, thanks.

    1. Zeaks

      It’s in the next version, there’s still a couple things I need to fix before release though. Should be tomorrow or the next day. 10 color schemes and 6 layouts, Google font selector and tabbed content as well.

    Hi Zeaks,

    I installed your new child theme (v1.2). Unfortunately none of my pages show up in the main navigation bar. I mean there are no links to “home page” or any other page in the navigation bar. There is just a header and that’s all.

    I reinstalled v1.0 and everything works fine. Is there a problem with the new child theme or is it just a settings issue? Let me know.

    By the way, your child theme is awesome.

    1. Zeaks

      It’s not an issue, I explained why it does this on the NomNom options page. Since I added a second menu, i removed the page fallback in case anyone JUST wanted to use the top menu. By default there is no way to turn the bottom menu off.

      I’ve left instructions on appearance > NomNom Options page near the bottom. You can also find answers to this and other FAQs here :)

      1. David Cox

        Great work Zeaks,
        With the main menu, most expect the main menu to show the theme by default, that is the way themes work, and some will not know how to use custom menu’s and not use the theme.

        Consider in the theme options, a checkbox to hide the main menu, default = false, once checked hide it in the code, same for the header image as not everyone wants an image taking the best real estate.

  9. Amar

    here i got another problem. the gravatar seems to be overlapped with the first comment when we reply on that comment. how to fix this?

    this new comment style is cool.elegant though.

    1. Amar

      and other problem is i cannot post reply comment. the message will appear , ” Can’t find the ‘commentformid’ div “

  10. Zeaks

    @David Thanks for the comment, I visit your site often. You’re right about adding an option for that, until then I think I might revert the bottom menu back to list pages.

    I might look into adding an option to set the height of the header as well. Some might not like the default size of Twenty Elevens, but they also might not like the size I selected.

    1. Zeaks

      Update to this. I should have a new version out tomorrow with an option to turn the primary menu on or off, and another option to choose the size of your header image.

      Sorry for the late response, your comment got flagged as spam. It looks like you’ve figured things out, your site looks great. :)

  13. Steve

    Great work! What I can’t figure out is the attachment page. When I post a gallery it looks fine. But when I click the gallery image, I go to the attachment page and it has no sidebar and the image is kicked off to the side of the theme as seen here

    Two options I’m interested in:
    1) Having the image centered with no sidebar and the image shown larger (current Twenty Eleven theme does it).
    2) Having the sidebar just like you would on a post but having the image centered and not floating off to the side.

    Does anybody have a suggestion on the CSS editing?

    I had a handful of other questions about modifying this rockin child theme, but then I read comments and the forum. I went through the forum and figured out why my images weren’t s showing up. (Under “How do I show full posts instead of excerpts?”) which was great. And thanks for posting the CSS you’re using to widen the content area and make the sidebar narrow and that would be useful in the forum FAQ.

    Suggestions for future versions: An additional option for a 200px max sidebar would be great in a future theme update (since most skyscraper ads are up to 180px and you should still be able to include a 200×200 banner).

    1. Zeaks

      Thanks for pointing that out Steve, I didn’t test the gallery very much with the new layouts I’ll make sure it’s fixed in the next version.

      As for the 200px wide sidebar. Twenty Eleven uses a fluid layout and Google adsense does not resize like the images do.

      I will make a post on how to adjust the width of the sidebars and content area though, it can be a bit confusing since everything uses % and not px.

      I’m not sure I get what you’re saying about the two features you suggested, do you mean show posts without a sidebar like how Twenty Eleven does as default?

      I appreciate the input, if you notice any other issues, or have suggestions please let me know.

      1. Steve

        Thanks for the quick response!

        200px wide thing – never mind – especially if you’ll write a post about how to adjust sidebar/content with CSS which is easiest for users I think. I was suggesting adding different options in the “Theme Options” similar to the “850px, Left Sidebar” but editing the CSS ourselves will be more simple to customize.

        As for the two options I was interested in, it was just looking for a quick fix to make the gallery attachment look similar to Twenty Eleven. See example of current attachment page here But I think an image.php needs to be created and the functions.php body_class needs edited to make it work. By the way, best option would be the 1st one I mentioned which would show the image and no sidebar, somewhat similar look to the current Twenty Eleven.

        I’m going to use the theme on a few blogs where I don’t use the gallery images, and I’m looking forward to your future versions. Thanks!

  14. Zeaks

    @steve I think I have the attachment issue sorted. The image attachment page will not have a sidebar. I’m fixing a few other issues I noticed with the 3 column layouts comment list vs the attachment page comment list.

    I’m also going to run the theme for a few days on a new test site, my bandwidth usage shot up to 87 gb the past couple of weeks for my old test domain, I want to make sure it’s not something weird going on with the theme and image cache for the slider sucking up bandwidth or something.

    I don’t get alot of feedback, just “how do I do this and that” types of questions.
    If you would like to test it out before I release it let me know.

    1. Steve

      Sure, I’d love to give it a test run and send you the URL of the blog as well. Feel free to shoot me an email of the zip, etc.

    I really like this theme and like the TAB shortcode but it doesn’t have instructions on how to use the tabs. I was able to insert a image in tab 3 but it shows a in all tabs. I was trying to list sticky posts in tab 1 but don’t know how. I’m just a newbie in wordpress

    1. Zeaks

      There is instructions on using the tabs shortcode on Appearance > NomNom Options page, scroll to the bottom. I’m not sure what you mean by sticky posts in tab 1, the tabbed content appears inside a post, you can’t put a sticky post inside a tab. (if we mean the same thing when we say sticky post)

  17. Chris

    Not sure if this is new in 1.5, but I’m using the showcase template for my main page. Previously it would show the most recent post, and the content, but now with 1.5, it just shows the header and post info. Is there something I’m missing?

    1. Zeaks

      I’ll look into it when i get home but, I don’t think I’ve changed anything in that template. Swap over to Twenty Eleven and see if it still has the issue.

    1. Chris

      In 1.4 between the post title and the post info (date, tags, etc) is displayed the post content. I’ve gone back to 1.4 on my site so you can see what I mean.

  18. Zeaks

    @chris Update on this, I tracked down the issue and will have a fix for it tomorrow. It’s an issue with the excerpts/full posts option.

      1. Zeaks

        That was a bit easier than expected, it has been updated. If you just want to update your copy, replace content.php with the one from the new zip. Thanks again.

  19. Steve

    “Increased narrow sidebar left and right width by from 850px to 875px.”
    – In the Theme Options I still see “850px”

    NomNom Options Page Suggestions
    – display current theme version (You are running NomNom 1.5.8)
    – display latest available version (Latest NomNom Version is 1.8.1)

    I like how you say on the options page that you can grab the shortcodes plugin because that page links displays the actual shortcodes. Nice!

    1. Zeaks

      Thanks Steve, I’ll look into adding the version thing. Just noticed the shortcodes displayed and not right, the syntax highlighter turned them into divs in the post , they should just be ex: [checklist]

      Hi Arrif. Thanks for letting me know about this.

      To fix, open includes/nomnom-slider/slider.php and in line 27 change

      Or you can download a new copy as I’ve updated the file. I forgot to add /includes/ to the file path.

        thanks a lot for your help. downloading it now =)

        for future versions, I think I’d like to see the recent comments styling that is similar to what u use here. Other than that, maybe some improvements in coding. Would love to see this theme score all A with pageslow & yslow.

  24. Zeaks

    @Ariff Thanks for the input. I have been looking into optimizing the code, so that’s planned. Atm 2011 scores a B 81, NomNom scores a C 74 on a new install with Yslow.

    I don’t think I will be adding style for plugins or widgets (other than wp-pagenavi), I try to keep the default style of Twenty Eleven and offer options/features and CSS snippets on the forums. Most of the current style changes were necessary for the template changes I’ve made.

    But the comments plugin I’m using is Wizzart Recent Comments.

    Here’s the link to the html and css I’m using for it on pastebin in case you wanted it. Just copy and paste it into the plugin options, set excerpt to 0 and avatar size is 32.

  25. Zerobde

    First and foremost, I love the theme! Started using it recently and was excited to see a new version of it. However, I’m having a bit of a problem with the header when using the excerpts with thumbnails option. When I use a featured image, the index page displays just as it should, but when I click the post, the header is the featured image and it’s huge. Am I doing something wrong? By the way, I’m testing this locally. I checked your test page and your version looks to not have that problem. Thank you!

    1. Chris

      I’ve noticed this too. Just thought it was something I was doing wrong. I don’t mind the head image being the feature image, but it’s height & width are the same for me.

  26. Zeaks

    Thanks for pointing this out. I’ll look into it. By default Twenty Eleven displays the featured image (if it’s large enough) in the header when viewing post pages. If you want to disable the featured image in the header and just display your default header it can be turned off by opening header.php and changing 0 to 10

    		$image[0] >= HEADER_IMAGE_WIDTH ) :
    	// Change the above number 0 to 10 if you don't want featured image displayed in the header when viewing posts
    1. Zeaks

      I Just took a quick look at this and it does seem to be working properly. Here’s how it works. When you set a featured image (post thumbnail) if it’s large enough to display n the header, by default twenty Eleven will try to display it on the post page.

      It will also use the dimensions the header is set for at the time the featured image is uploaded.

      Basically, it will display as the size it was originally cropped to. If you change the header size after, the theme can’t go back and change these image sizes again.

      You have 2 options, you can go back and manually re-upload the featured images, or you can run this plugin which will create new image sizes based on your current theme settings.

      If you check out, I’ve set my header to 100px high, my old posts images displayed as my old size of 220px, until I ran this plugin or reset the featured image. Now they all display as the same size.

      This is the downside of having the option to set the header size, I’ll look for a way around it though and see if I can force it to resize the featured image.

  27. Zeaks

    Yes, resize the header in NomNom options > theme options. You might need to upload your header again once you select your new size.

    hello Zeaks,

    thank you so much for NomNom–one question… when viewing the blog in iOS platform the display menu is wrapping to a second line. and i see your blog does not do that–how can i fix this issue?

    thank you!

      1. alexis siroc

        when i switch to the Twenty Eleven theme all is fine. perhaps it is because i have set up a custom menu? how do i provide a screen shot?

      1. Zeaks

        I’m very not familiar with Ipads or using media devices for viewing the web, but it looks as if there are just too many menus to display in a single line. By default this is how Twenty Eleven works, the menus will drop down if the viewing area isn’t wide enough to display them.

        Take a look at on your ipad, or even resize this site in a regular browser until it’s very narrow, the menus act the same way.

        You might not notice it on my site on your Ipad because my menus don’t span across the width of the site, I’m sure it would do it if I had more menus.

        You could try this in your CSS, your padding is set to 30px, changing it to 20px might be enough to display as you want on the Ipad. You might also look into adding the “Contact Us” link to the sidebar to further reduce the space the menus are taking up.( that might actually be enough on its own)

        #access a {padding: 0 20px 0 4px;}

        I didn’t even realize this was NomNom theme you were using until I viewed the source, it looks great.

      2. alexis siroc

        thank you Zeaks. i thought maybe you adjusted something to make it work on the iPad. will figure something out. thank you again for taking a look. i am so grateful for your NomNom theme–it made the three column layout so much easier to accomplish.

  30. Drew

    Congrats on the new them. Nice work. Would you by chance have any plans to make the ‘layouts’ available as ‘templates’ – to allow for layout selection on a per page-basis?

    Thank you.

    1. Zeaks

      Thanks for pointing this out. I’ll look into it, I’ve noticed a few problems with button placement/comments and the related posts. Keep an eye on this article, I’ll post an update.

    Hello there! I got one problem, when i want to create pages for the menu, different pages were i can write different things in, i can only choose “Home” Or “Sample page” What can i do to make more pages? Thx.

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Timmy. To create a page goto Admin > pages > add new. Unless you created a custom menu, the page will show up once it’s published. If you did create a custom menu, you’ll have to goto Appearance > menus and add the page to your menu for it to show up in the menubar.

    Hi Zeaks,

    Thanks for your NomNom theme, i have figured out some stuffs, I have added the logo easier and resized some titles.

    Also I have installed wp-touch plugin, people can see now the blog from their mobile devices like an application, and it’s very very nice. ( blackberry – iphone – android etc .. ) , it works with comments, you can see categories , everything i think.

    One question, could you tell me the name of the plugin installed in your site : “Notify me of followup comments via e-mail” … I tried someone but they don’t work.

    thanks a lot , regards .

    After choosing a featured image, the resulting image on the edit post page is huge. I’ve never had this problem on any other theme thus far. Even the old NomNom didn’t have this issue. I switched back to default twenty eleven and the featured image on the edit post page shows smaller. What has changed in the NomNom 1.5 code that causes this? Thanks!

    1. Zeaks

      Is the featured image on the actual page showing as the size it should? Or is this just happening on the edit post page? By huge, do you mean slightly larger than normal, or it’s ridiculously huge? There’s nothing I can think of that would make it any different than previous versions, though it should scale to what you set the header image size to. Here’s what mine look like.
      Featured Image

  35. Zeaks

    @Zerobde That is strange. I tried to reproduce the issue on my test site but wasn’t able to. When you uploaded the original featured image for that post, were you using Twenty Eleven or NomNom? If NomNom what header size were you using?

    It does show slightly larger for me when I upload it in Twenty Eleven (not like yours though), but the header size is larger than what I was using in NomNom, and WordPress doesn’t auto resize images to theme specifications when switching themes.

    1. Zerobde

      I was using NomNom, then decided to switch to Twenty Eleven to see if it did the same thing. I’m using the default header size of 1000×288 in NomNom. I’ll replace NomNom and see it still does the same thing.

      1. Zeaks

        If it’s displaying fine on the front end, it shouldn’t hurt anything, but I’m curious why it’s doing it and why i can’t make it do the same thing. So, few more questions. What size was the image you set for featured image. Is it just that post or all posts?

        What are the dimensions you’re using in Admin Settings > Media for thumbnails (cropped or not), medium and large.

      2. Zerobde

        Every post I edit shows the full size of the image instead of a thumbnail. My featured images are set to 150,150 and 150,210 and they show up on the frontend perfectly. My dimensions are th-150×150, m-200×600 & l-1024×1024. It’s weird because all the other themes show edit posts featured image fine. I’m not really all that worried as long as it’s working on the frontend… I was just curious as to what may be causing it.

  36. Zeaks

    Sorry, I really don’t have an explanation for it, if I could reproduce the issue on my own site I might be able to figure it out. The dimensions for your media are the same as mine besides the medium which is 300×300 but that wouldn’t have anything to do with it.

    It could be a plugin conflicting with the header options maybe causing it to display the selected header size on the editor page, I doubt it though.

    If you have any other issues with it let me know.

    1. Zerobde

      No problem! If I figure it out, I’ll definitely let you know what the issue was. Thanks for your time!

  37. Sagi Agur

    Hi Zeak, thanks for the great theme.
    I’m using the 3 column layout.
    How do I set a certain page to present both left and right sidebars while other pages present only right sidebar ? (i.e. I would like my blog page to show posts archive on the left sidebar and menu on the right sidebar while on other pages just to see menu on the right sidebar and nothing on left). should I create new widget for that ? new template ? or does NomNom have this capability already. I’m a newbie :-), and I’ll appreciate your help.
    Thanks, Sagi

      1. Sagi Agur

        I’m having static front page, and a page called ‘Blog’ which is a posts page. (I did it in through Reading Settings). so when I’m viewing posts on the ‘Blog’ page I would like to have archive on the left sidebar.

    1. Zeaks

      It is, open related.php and on line 11 find

      $myposts = get_posts('numberposts=2&order=DESC&orderby=ID&category=' . $currentCategory . '&exclude=' . $current);

      Change numberposts=2 to 3 or 4 or whatever you want. You’ll need to adjust the style for it though. There’s a section in style.css for related posts.

  38. Penina

    How do you get the three-columned layout to work? Actually, there isn’t a selector button for any of the three column layouts. The only options that I can get to work are for one and two columns only, and when I select the first top button on the left, the layout LOOKS as though it changes to three columns, but nothing appears in the sidebars, so all of the content remains centered in the middle but nothing for the sidebars.

  39. Penina

    Well, I added content to the sidebar widgets. Do widgets have to be built for the theme? I’m a little confused about how the theme works unfortunately.

    1. Zeaks

      Admin > Appearance > Widgets. Drag and drop widgets into the main sidebar and extra sidebar, depending on what layout you are using, they are marked.

      The theme works the same way Twenty Eleven theme does except it has extra options in Appearance > NomNom Options.

  40. Penina

    That’s what I was trying to explain: the sidebars are populated with content but the information doesn’t display in the sidebars and I can only get 1 three-column layout to work, but even then the sidebars still don’t display the information I have in the widgets. Even the options to choose a three column layout are missing two buttons so I actually have only 1 three-column style to choose from.

    1. Zeaks

      Not sure what to tell you. I haven’t had anyone with issues of populating the sidebars. Does twenty Eleven theme work ok for you? Do you have a link to the site?

  41. Ken Richman

    Sorry – I’m probably being thick – but I can’t see a slider in the header.
    Exactly what settings do I need to have to get the slider to show?
    I have created a couple of posts with featured images.

    Also the ‘pull’ class added to images in posts with Twenty Eleven pulls them into the margin which I quite like – doesn’t seem to work with this NomNom – is that intentional?

    Great child theme though – the twin menus are especially useful.

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Ken. To use the slider you simply need to select what category you want to have images displayed from. The slider will display the featured images from posts in that category.
      3 requirements. The slider must be turned on, a category must be selected, and posts within that category must have featured images.

      I’m not sure what you mean with “the ‘pull’ class added to images in posts”, do you mean the thumbnail next to each excerpt, like what this site uses?

      1. Ken Richman

        Here’s what I’m referring to regarding pull :

        Scroll down to where it says:
        Pull Quotes

        You can also dress up your posts by pulling images or blockquotes into the margins with a class of “pull” and “alignleft” or “alignright”. With blockquotes you can also add a class of just “pull” if you want a more dynamic blockquote that extends out on both sides. Here are some examples of how to do that in the post HTML editor.

        A normal blockquote

        A bolder blockquote that extends into both margins

        A bolder blockquote that floats into the left margin

        A bolder blockquote that floats into the right margin

        Adding a “pull” class to your left and right floated images will pull them into the margins as well.

        I’ll have another go with getting the slider to work, but I think I have already done what you suggest. I’ll try a different category, at present everything is uisng uncategorised. Can you poimt me to a demo showing the slider working?
        Thank you

      2. Ken Richman

        I finally figured out (sort of) why the slider in the header was not showing. Under Reading Settings I had Front page displays a static page. As soon as I changed this to show posts it worked. However I do want a static page on the front page. Is there a way around this?

  42. Zeaks

    @Ken unless I’m missing something NomNom is displaying images the same as Twenty Eleven. I haven’t added anything that would change them that I can think of. I tested pullquotes and images just now and didn’t see any difference, do you have an example?

    You can view the slider working on my test site for the rest of the day here

  43. rob G

    just installed yesterday so still playing with it but so far, this has been by far been the most valuable addition to my site! Highly recommended. Thanks

  44. Zeaks

    @Ken when you assign a static page it is considered as is_singular(). If this is changed, it will change the way featured images are displayed on post pages, so I don’t have an easy way around it right now.

  45. Calin

    Great theme :), but I have a small issue with it. It seems that it has some issues with the Download Controller Plugin for WordPress ( , sorry for link, but I had to show what plugin). With Twenty Eleven them is working fine, but with your theme the button for download is not display. Check my blog (Cisco QoS at-a-glance post for example), under images need to be a download button, instead I see just the code. The plugin uses shortcodes of form {filelink=x}
    Can you help me a little bit?

    1. Zeaks

      That is really weird. The file does exist, I tested it on another site and I get the same issue, I’m not sure what’s causing the problem with that image. I can’t think of anything that would mess with it.

      I’ll look into it and try to figure it out.

      1. Calin

        I your functions.php

        // Make plain text links clickable
        //add_filter(‘the_content’, ‘make_clickable’);
        //add_filter(‘the_excerpt’, ‘make_clickable’);

        I commented that out and it’s working. I’m not very into WP programming, but maybe this helps you.

  46. Zeaks

    @calin Thanks for figuring it out. I was actually going to remove that a couple of versions ago and add it as a code snippet, forgot it was even there.

  47. Terumi

    Thank you very much for providing the theme. It was exactly what I was looking for, and the Japanese shows up perfectly as well. Arigato!

  48. wiz kid

    Hi and thanks for the awesome theme :)

    umm… if it is not too much … i wanted to ask you if it is possible to lower the nav bar a few pixels ( like 20 – 25 ) and add a Slogan between the header and the nav bar and if it is … what would be the best way to do it ( through css or other way ) … i don’t want to make a mess out of your work :D

    cheers and thanks in advance,

    Wiz Kid.

    1. Zeaks

      If I understand you right, #access controls the nav bar. You could do something like

      #access {margin-top: 25px;}

      Then in header.php add your code for the slogan image or whatever it is you want to add above

      NomNom was made to be customized, it’s a child theme of Twenty Eleven. I’ve just added options and features in an attempt to make customization easier.

  49. Daniel Gutiérrez

    Thx for your theme!

    1. Is there a way to delete a custom header I uploaded. I have 6 and want them to be shown in a random order, but I only need 5. How do I delete one of them?

    2. Is there some way to replace the title with an image? Is it all in the header.php?

    Thx in advance!

  50. Andrea

    Love the theme. One question though, can I add other Google fonts to it? If so, how? Thanks a million in advance and great job on the theme. :)

    1. Zeaks

      Yes you can, open includes/theme-options.php and around line 684 you’ll see // Add the Google Fonts

      It’s pretty easy to see how to add more, just create a new section such as this, (with your own font)

      'Allan' => array(
      'name' => 'Allan',
      'import' => '@import url(;',
      'css' => "font-family: 'Allan', cursive;"

        nomnom is a child theme. it will not change (font,side bar etc) when wp upgrade…i’m i right?

        after download just install it…that all??

        sorry i am a new wp user

  53. Harry

    Great and thanks for the new version! I’ve found an issue though. When you made some change in body content or content title size it doesnt change in the front page. The same for the colours.

    1. Zeaks

      Everything seems to be working for me, I’ve tested it on two different sites. Here I’ve just changed the fonts and colors of everything randomly

      Make sure you’re not using any sort of caching plugins that would prevent the site from refreshing properly.

  54. Zeaks

    @Nik, that’s right, upgrading WordPress or Twenty Eleven theme will not change NomNom unless there are major changes done to twenty Eleven during an upgrade. In that case I’ll need to also make changes to NomNom.

    Upgrading Nomnom will overwrite your changes unless you’ve added them to the custom CSS area in options.

  55. nik

    any tutorial how to install this child theme?? or just download & upload it ?that all?? what the best way

    1. Zeaks

      Just upload and install. Twenty Eleven theme needs to be installed as well, which shouldn’t be a problem since it’s the default theme.

      Goto media and remove the headers you uploaded, then try to upload it. If that doesn’t work. Activate Twenty Eleven theme, and try and upload the header and see if it works ok. Let me know what happens.

  57. Harry

    Hi Scott!
    How did you manage to put the searchbox in the menu? Actually, how did you manage to get that amazing search box you got now? :D

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Harry. Since I’m using a new header that has the site title in it, I didn’t think I needed the default title and description anymore. I just went to Appearance > header and where it says “Display Text” click No. It will move the searchbox to the menu. I then used a bit of CSS to round the corners of the top menu. In case you want it, here it is.

      #access2 {
      	border-top-left-radius: .5em;
      	border-top-right-radius: .5em;
      /* used different radius for top page so it doesn't display outside the menu*/
      #page {border-radius: 1em 1em 0.5em 0.5em;}
  58. Zeaks

    @mfirdausmohd in NomNom Options goto the Theme Options tab, and click “update header size” then try to upload the image. Let me know if that works for you. If not, please start a forum topic.

    1. mfirdausmohd

      eh…i think, i have settled this issue, when you ask me to update my header size, i noticed the empty spaces for both width and height, but when i set the width and height to 1000px and 288 px, and i uploaded my image, it works! This is my mistake, I thought that , the header is automatically set without changing anything at there.
      Thx for your support! Tq very much!

    I’m using this NomNom theme for my blog, but I have question that on how to make my large background has no repeat and it fix on center of the theme.

    Please help :D

    1. Zeaks

      @reezluv There are options for this in Appearance > background.
      Or you can use CSS to apply your background image by adding it to Appearance > NomNom Options > Custom CSS.

          how to make post title, sidebar closer to the edge?

  61. justin

    Hi zeaks I’am using your theme for my first blog. I am using the double sidebars on the right but I want to show video in a larger space.
    I found these code on this site :
    Can you tell me where i should insert them in your theme to have it working properly ?
    And finally I changed this in css file but the title’s font doesn’t change; is it possible to chage this ?

    #site-title a {
    	font-family: utopia;
    	font-size: 24px;
    	font-weight: bold;
    	text-shadow: 1px 4px 6px rgba(0,0,0,0.2),0px -5px 35px rgba(255,255,255,0.3);

    Thanks a lot

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Justin, since I’ve added options to set fonts from NomNom Options > Fonts and Color Options, using that css in the style.css will be overwritten. You can get around this though by adding it to NomNom Options > Custom CSS. All code in there will override everything else and also will not be overwritten during an upgrade.

  62. edl

    Thanks for the great child theme!

    Any idea how Iwould get the nivo slider to display on the top of every page and not just the blog page?

    Help much appreciated!

    1. Zeaks

      Hi edl. The slider works the same way the featured image in the header works for Twenty Eleven, headers are displayed on the index, but on single it’ll display the image for that post. It would take alot of work to change how this functions, I might take a look at this sometime in the future.

  63. justin

    Thank you I found how to set the police.
    But do you think if it is possible to add a wide sidebar over double sidebars in order to show video and larger objects.
    If you have an idea on how to add this to the NomNom theme which is a good base to start, lat me know.
    Great support !
    Thanks for all

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Justin. I’ve never attempted to do this, another user asked about the same thing though. You’ll have to create a new widget area to a layout such as double left sidebars or double right then style it. Here’s a link on how it can be done which might give you some ideas.

      I might try this myself and if it turns out ok I’ll create a tutorial for it. It may be tricky keeping the sidebar responsive and fluid like twenty Eleven is, I’m sure it’s possible though.

      UPDATE: I’ve tried this and created a post here on how to go about doing it

  64. Gem Franco

    Hi. Is it possible if I remove the head image? I want to change the header image with an advertisement. If it’s possible, how will I change it? Thanks!

    1. Gem Franco

      Another thing is how can I transfer the “previous post” and “posted on” at the top to bottom? Thanks a lot.

      1. Zeaks

        Hi Gem Franco.
        You’ll need to edit Header.php, or you can remove it in appearance > Header, then add code for an advertisement in header.php by creating a adsense.php file, place your code into it, then just include it in the header in the proper place. Add some div’s around the adsense so you can style it how you like, which might be a better solution. Here’s a post which might help you.

        As for the navigation, please see this post.

        For any further questions on modifying NomNom please create a thread on the forums.

  65. karen strapp

    Thanks for creating this theme! I was looking for a way to remove the horizontal nav bar from the twenty eleven theme and replace with a nav on the right to match the main site. This worked great!

    Here is my blog page using your theme:

    Here is a page from the main site:

    I like that you have different color schemes but the dark is too black. I would like to change the background to #666 but can not find where to do that. I would also like to remove the space above the header image. Thanks for your help.

    – Karen

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Karen, you can remove the space above the header by using this

      #site-title {padding-top: 0;}
      #site-description { margin: 0; }

      The dark style was not created by myself, it’s a default Twenty Eleven style. You could edit this right from the TwentyEleven theme folder, but it’s not such a great idea.
      Copy twentyeleven/colors/dark.css to NomNom/includes/css/ and overwrite one of the current styles such as charcoal.css (or just copy the contents of dark.css to charcoal.css) Then set the color scheme in theme options to charcoal and edit the colors to however you like in the charcoal.css

      BTW, your site looks great, I love the sidebar navigation and the header looks really cool!

      1. J Mickevich

        Hello and thank you so much for the information found here!

        I’m having a similar problem getting rid of that 1/2 inch or so above header graphic. I’ve tried the method above, but it hasn’t clicked for me. I’ve taken the dark.css code and dumped it into the Nom Nom mauve.css file. I know I’m in the right neighborhood, because I managed to get rid of an annoying border bar that was above my graphic.

        There’s a section in the dark.css code for the Header, including other #site-title options – should these be overwritten? Ignored?

        Any help you can give me is really appreciated.

  66. Angel

    Hi Zeaks,

    I have installed again your beautiful NomNom theme to another of my websites,
    I have some questions:
    – Do you know how to enlarge the right side bar (main side bar) , I need more space to write text,
    – I would like also to enlarge the post space and maybe the entire layout.

    I think i have to change something with the editor on stylesheet but I can’t work it out. could you help me?

    thank you.

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Angel. You won’t have to use the editor or edit the style.css (you can if you want, both will work) NomNom has a custom CSS area where you can add your changes.

      Try adding this to the custom CSS area, it should widen the sidebar a bit (if you’re using the default layout)

      .right-sidebar #secondary {
          float: right;
          margin-right: 5.6%;
          width: 20.8%;
      .right-sidebar #extra-sidebar {
          float: right;
          margin-right: 5.6%;
          position: relative;
          width: 20.8%;
      /* add this if you want content margin to match sidebar */
      .right-sidebar #content {
          margin: 0 34% 0 5.6%;
          width: 60.4%;

      You’ll have to start a forum thread to get help with the rest, it’s too much to post in comments.

  67. Zeaks

    @lili you can change the width of any layout by editing the max-width of it. For example, the default layout that uses the right sidebar, uses this to define the width.

    #page {
    	margin: 2em auto;
    	max-width: 1000px;

    You could change 1000px to 100% and it should display the full width of the browser. It looks like you’re using the 3 column layout, so use.

    .three-column #page { max-width: 100%;}
      1. wiz kid

        umm… sorrz to buzz you but i’ve followed this post and it doesn’t change anything. i want to use an image instead of text i’ve tried it with the .ownsite { background: url } thing … and no results… is there any other method ?

        thanks in advance…

  68. montemartin

    So far I love what you have done.

    I suggest you update the screen shots of the font options. I spent ten minutes looking for that setting before I realized all the same options are now listed for each heading. LOL.

    I’d like to add a setting to allow the nav font to use a google font also. I will start a forum post on the topic later, but any advice you have is helpful.

    1. Zeaks

      Glad you like it. I considered adding the font for the navigation, but it caused problems with the menus re-sizing because of some fonts so I left them out.

      It’s very easy to change those fonts, you could add the CSS to the custom CSS area. #access a {font-family: yourfont ;}

      PS: Screenshots updated, thanks for noticing the old one.

  69. Matteo

    Dear all I am just starting to build up the website and I cannot find a way to have my backgroun image cover all the page background it’s just starting from a point close to the middle to the end, firstable the image is a 1500×2500 px, i changed the style.css of twelve eleven theme appropriately anyway I don’t have the result that I’m expecting:

    this is the style.css part related to background, it’s around at line 37
    body {
    /* background: #fff; */
    background: url(/images/campo.jpg);
    background-repeat: norepeat;
    background-attachment: fixed;
    background-position: left top;
    line-height: 1;
    appearently it’s ok huh? :)

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Matteo. The image I see on your site is not the right size to have it cover your site and your CSS is not right. Please start a forum post, this isn’t related to the post topic

  70. Zeaks

    @J Mickevich I checked your site, but the header is over to the right, and I don’t see any border. Is this the site you’re referring to?

    Just checking with firebug, using this seemed to put the header where it should be and moveit up under the navigation.

    .lof-container { float:left; margin-top: -6px; }
    1. J Mickevich

      My header is pretty much centered. But. I just looked at my site in Firefox (i’ve been using chrome) and my slider is way over to the right, so that must be what you’re seeing. Whee. More to fix – where should I put that line of code? header.php?

      The border was a little line that appeared above my header graphic, but I got rid of that. What I’m really just trying to kill the 1/2 inch of space above my header graphic. Right above my name there.

      Any ideas? (and thank you so much for your time here!).

      1. Zeaks

        Add it to either the custom CSS area, or in style.css. This should bring the logo closer to the top. #page { margin: 1em auto; }

        Your site looks really cool!

    Very nice – I’m very happy with the many options for color variations, and also happy with how easy it was to add my own header images. One question – what’s the slider? Not sure what that’s about.

    1. Zeaks

      The slider displayed images in the header. It pulls images from posts of a selected category that contain Featured images and links them to the post.

      You can read more on the actual slider that comes with NomNom here it’s been integrated to replace the header image if turned on.

    Hi, i’m currently using Twenty Ten 1.2 and i have in my menu a three level item:
    classic portraits
    creative portraits

    I had to create a page for each level, and each is clickable.
    I’d like to manage it via sub menus: click on portraits, access to portraits page from where i can click on classic portraits and hence access the gallery.
    Can i do this with your child theme?

    I’m using the Nom Nom child theme and am trying to figure out how to add color to the navigation items when the page is visited? Basically, when a page is visited, I would like for that page item in the menu/navigation to be a different color from all other menu items. I was able to do this in the Coraline child theme but I can’t quite figure it out for Nom Nom (I’m not a coder or developer so I’m picking my way through as I go along).

    1. Zeaks

      Something like this should work.

      #access a:visited, #access2 a:visited, #access .menu li a:visited, #access2 .menu li a:visited {
          color: red;
      1. Penina

        I guess I’m putting the code in the wrong location because I’ve tried the code in two places, but the changes didn’t take effect. Where should I add this code in style.css? I have tried it above and below

         #access ul ul, #access2 ul ul {

        and just below /*the second navigation menu*/, in style.css, but I don’t see any changes.

    1. Penina

      That code did change the menu-item text color, but not the background color. I’m sorry, I wasn’t clear about what I’m trying to achieve. I’m actually trying to change the background color of the navigation/menu item to be a different color when the page is visited, not the text color. Currently my navigation bar bg color is

      . But when a page is visited, I would like for that menu-item background color to be

    2. Penina

      Ok, I was able to get the look I wanted with this code that I copied from some edits I made in the Coraline theme:

      #access .current-menu-item a, #access .current-menu-ancestor a, #access .current_page_item a, #access .current_page_ancestor a {
          background-attachment: scroll;
          background-clip: border-box;
          background-color: #ECD672;
          background-image: none;
          background-origin: padding-box;
          background-position: 0 0;
          background-repeat: repeat;
          background-size: auto auto;
          color: #3366CC;

      My only problem now is that the menu-item background color extends just a little above its border and into the NomNom branding/featured image. How do I correct that? (Thanks for your help.)

      1. Zeaks

        Ah, I misunderstood what you wanted. I thought you wanted a menu to stay a certain color after the user visits that page. You want the current menu highlighted. This should be all you need, if there’s an issue with a border, I’ll need to see the site.

        The access2 is for the top menu in case you also use that or plan to in the future.

        #access .current-menu-item a,
        #access .current-menu-ancestor a,
        #access .current_page_item a,
        #access .current_page_ancestor a,
        #access2 .current-menu-item a,
        #access2 .current-menu-ancestor a,
        #access2 .current_page_item a,
        #access2 .current_page_ancestor a {
        	background-color:#E8A317 ;

    Two questions: Do you have any tutorials on how to build page and post templates for NomNom, and instructions on how to add some borders around the menu items in the navigation bar (like your navigation/menu bar for the theme this site uses)?

    As far as templates are concerned, I want to make a sidebar/content page and post template, and content/sidebar template. Right now, all of the pages essentially have one layout based on the default layout I selected, but I don’t want all pages to have the same layout.

    There is a Custom Post Template plug-in in the plug-in directory, but it’s only for post layouts, and I don’t want my site’s page and post templates to be plug-in dependent.

  84. Zeaks

    @Haylee You’re right, I forgot you wanted the color change as well. You just need to add the class that controls active links for those areas EX: a, a:hover, a:visited

    Try this

    #site-generator a, .entry-meta a {color: #yourcolor;}
    #site-generator a:visited, .entry-meta a:visited {color: #yourcolor;}
    #site-generator a:hover, .entry-meta a:hover {color: #yourcolor;}

    You should only need to use the first line, but just in case I’ve posted all 3.
    Keep using the code I posted previously for the font size.

    If you still want to remove the link for the date, open content.php and find this line

    < ?php twentyeleven_posted_on(); ?>

    Replace it with this

    < ?php the_time('l, F jS, Y') ?>

    If you want to modify the way the date is displayed, see this page for more info

    If you don’t want the date to be displayed, you can always remove that bit too.

    If you have more questions, please use the forums, these comments are becoming hard to search through :)

    Hey, what’s up Zeaks… My custom menu’s have never worked. I never looked into it because I’ve had other big fish to tackle, but now that the other stuff I was working is done… What might be the problem? Yes, the custom menu does work in default Twenty Eleven. I just checked and it shows up fine. However in yours, nothing shows… Not even the top menu. Got any suggestions? Thanks!

    1. Zeaks

      Can’t say why they are not working for you, they do work though.

      When you switch themes, you’ll have to activate the menus again. Make sure they are turned on n NomNom Options. Other than that, I can’t give you much advice unless I can try them myself.

      1. Zerobde

        I found the problem! A function I had to allow the blog to include custom post types is blocking the custom menu from showing. Thank you for your quick reply. I didn’t really expect a reply so soon since it was Christmas morning.

    1. Zeaks

      Make sure you’ve selected a header size in NomNom Options. Make sure that the category you’re using for the slider has featured images in the posts.

    1. nia kaniawati

      Thanks for your advice. I’ve got the solution of this showcase. The modification is on the file showcase.js
      Now I want to ask about the view recent posts on the home page. The first post is displayed with the excerpt, but the other posts display only the title. How can I make other posts are also displayed in excerpt?

  86. Laura

    I need your help. English is not my native language, I hope you understand me and my problems:
    1) My wp-pagenavi is not running although I’ve done everything as described.
    2) how can I change the setting to the currently reading? For Example:
    The first three posts are displayed completely and three others will be shortened. does it work?

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Laura. Are you sure wp-pageNavi is active? It’s working fine for me on this site

      Your second question, if I understand what you want to do, would involve major changes to the loop. I can’t give you a simple answer for this.

  87. Sam

    Hi Zeke, I’m having difficulty updating from NomNom 1.5 to NomNom 1.6.1. The installation fails whenever I try. What’s odd is that I can install other themes, just not NomNom 1.6.1. Currently I’m running NomNom 1.5 on WordPress 3.3. Any suggestions?

    Thanks for creating NomNom–great theme.

  88. David

    Hi there, I discovered your theme a few weeks ago when looking for a 3 column solution. I really like what you’ve done, thanks for sharing!
    My problem is that I’ve created several different post types and taxonomies and had more or less integrated them into my site; when I now click any of the post links, only an excerpt is displayed, even though I haven’t specifically created any. I can’t get the full post to display.
    I had adapted several of the content files in order to create custom templates, but can’t think why the full posts will not display. I have subsequently tried to remove the customistations to get back to normal but it doesn’t work.
    Unfortunately my site isn’t live yet so I can’t publish a link but wondered if you might be able to figure out what’s gone wrong? Needless to say, when I switch themes, the problem goes away.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I’d really like to use this theme.

    1. Zeaks

      Hi David. This might be a silly question, but have you set the option to display full posts instead of excerpts in Appearance > NomNom Options > Theme Options ?

      1. David

        Hi there, thanks for the quick response. That option was set for excerpts, which I have now changed and it IS possible to view the full posts.
        I’m sure that previously though, if I did a search for those types of posts, excerpts were displayed with thumbnails, although the permalink led to the full post.
        I don’t really know too much about php, but would have thought that that was a standard behaviour? Am I missing something?
        Thanks again!

    1. David

      Sorry to be a pain! With excerpts turned on, a search result displays correctly with excerpt and thumb. The problem is that clicking ‘Continue reading’ still only displays the excerpt.
      I might try making a Custom Post page to see if that works. Thanks again.

      1. Zeaks

        It must be something you have added David. NomNom displays search results fine for me, and the continue reading link works properly on the search page.

        Without learning more about taxonomies and custom post types myself, and knowing exactly what changes you made, I can’t offer much advice.

        If it’s just the 3 column layout you are using NomNom for, feel free to use the CSS from NomNom and here is my original Pastebin post on how I created the 3 column layouts
        This is an early version of the 3 column layout, but it’ll give you a general idea how to do it, and looking at NomNoms CSS should help with anything else.

      2. David

        It seems that the only way to display excerpts for search results, but display full posts for custom post types, IS to create template pages for each custom post type.
        Thanks for all of your assistance. I’ll post a link when the site goes live. ;)

  89. epn38

    Hi, thank you for this great job. I would like to use this template, but…
    I have a problem with it. If I activate it, this error message appears:
    “Cannot redeclare _verify_activate_widget() (previously declared in /…/wp-content/themes/NomNom/functions.php:144) in /…/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/functions.php on line 617″

    Do you know the solution?

  90. Simon Thomas

    Hi Zeaks

    First of all, thanks very much for creating such a wonderful child theme!

    I’m almost ready to adapt it to fit my own website, tho’ I was wondering if you know how I can change the 3-column option (with left and right sidebars) so it reverts to two-column everywhere apart from on the index page (because, in my test installation the right sidebar is being used to display a particular category of posts).

    I also found that the menu kept disappearing with sub-sub-menu items which were part of a long list, tho’ I think this might be my own problem… :-)

    Many thanks for any help you can give, and again for creating such a great child theme.

    Best wishes

  91. lenny23

    Thanks for this child theme what finally makes my ugly blog to not look like a one man show anymore!
    Somewhat I’m missing the code which instantly turns all kind of images and videos into proper thumbnail size at 3 columns excerpts on front page. I mean to say, when you’re having too many articles with too big pics, no thumbnails are displayed when activating NomNom. Thanks for any plugin idea to have my thumbnail pics when using 3 columns. Something like,

    function get_post_image() {
    global $post, $posts;
    $first_img = ”;
    $output = preg_match_all(‘//i’, $post->post_content, $matches);
    $first_img = $matches [1] [0];

    if(empty($first_img)){ //Defines a default image
    $img_dir = get_bloginfo(‘template_directory’);
    $first_img = $img_dir . ‘/images/post-default.jpg';
    return $first_img;

  92. Sean Stasio

    This might seem like a silly question, but should I be building a child theme of your child theme? If not, how do I update your child theme when you push out improvements? Thanks for your help!

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Sean. It’s a good question. Originally NomNom just had font options, and not many changes to the template files. After many updates, it’s turned into a fairly large theme. It’s mainly meant to use the options it has, and use the custom CSS area.

      If you’re a more advanced user, you can still make changes to the template files, but they will be overwritten with an update. It’s a good idea to make note of any template file changes you make.

      The latest version is the final version. I’ll only be updating if there’s a major issue. So far there has only been a few minor things issues.

  93. Sean Stasio

    Thanks for the quick response, Zeaks. I wouldn’t say that I’m an advanced coder, though I do need to modify the templates. What I’m finding is that adding meta to the loop (content.php) isn’t as straight forward as I was hoping. It was pretty easy with theme hybid, but twenty eleven is pissing me off. Would you happen to have any links to some tuts for modifying the 2011 loop?

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Sepet. To show a thumbnail on your post, you must be using excerpts .. NomNom Options > Theme Options > Excerpts with Thumbnails or Full.

      You must also set a “featured image” for the post on the post editor page.

      1. Sepet

        can it be auto thumbnail so i do not need to set . in easy way it will choose any image in my post and set the image as thumbnail

  94. filippo

    i’ve a problem with the header. it doesn’t show my header image even if it show ok in admin header menu but in the site it doesn’t show.

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Filippo. Try setting a header size first. NomNom Options > Theme Options. Set a size, then click update/save

      Then see if the header displays.

  95. Zeaks

    @Sepet No, NomNom can’t auto generate thumbnails. There are good and bad things about doing it each way, this is the way I thought was best and allowed as much control over the thumbnails.

    There are plugins that can do that for you though.

  96. Sepet

    I would like to ask another thing . how i wanna disable comment on specific page . i don’t see option like post .

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Sepet. On the post editor page of the page or post you want to disable comments for. Click “Screen Options” at the top, then checkmark Discussion. Then scroll down and uncheck comments, then update the post/page.

  97. Manas Nanda

    Hi Zeaks,

    I really like the layout of NomNom, thanks for the great work!!
    However, I would like to modify two things.
    1. Look at the page
    Since I am using two menus, one appear over the other. I would to re position the secondary menu which has “About Us Contact Us..” to appear on the top right corner. For e.g. look at the page
    On the right top , there is ” Press Publications..”

    How do I do this?

    2. I woud like to reduce the width of the two sidebars on every page,similar to what it is on How do I do this?

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Manas, these questions should be asked on the forums, the answer is too much for comments. Create a post there and I’ll try and help you. Thanks!

    Q2 How do I use the slider on a page?

      1. Leon Krijgsman

        Thanks Zeaks,

        I would like to have a page with 4 boxes (horizontal)
        Each box showing a thumbnail and title of the most recent post is a specific category.
        Is (&how is) that possible within the theme? Or can you recommend a compatible plugin?

  99. Francis

    Thanks for the theme, it works and looks good. There is only one thing that does not work for me. I try to place a widget at the sidebar, but it appears into the Extra sidebar under widgets however i choose Main Sidebar.

    Am i doing something wrong?

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Francis. If you placed the widet in the main sidebar, then it should display there.
      I’m not sure what I can tell you to check for, do you have a demo I could log into to see for myself? PM me the details on the forums if you do, thanks.

    I am interested in this theme, but the sidebar is too small, can you explain how to enlarge the size of the sidebar that can put a 300 x 250 Benner

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Sarah. This has been answered many times throughout this site. I’ve also made a post on how to change the sidebar width. Take a look around, I’m sure you’ll find the answer.

      1. Sarah

        It can, thank you, and I want to ask again, I tried to change the font in the NomNom Options – Fonts & Colors, I want to change the font, but also changing colors, I like colors without changing the default color scheme …. how to change the fonts just not in the colors

    Well done! I’ve been searching for a ‘standard theme’ and I think this is it!
    Here’s a thought for an enhancement. Under ‘Font and Color Options’, allow a separate font, size and color for the site description and then allow the title and description to be overlaid on the header with X & Y offsets. I think positioning interesting typography over simple headers makes a wide range of attractive designs accessible to the amateur.

  105. Bob

    How do I remove the blank space above my header image up top. I can see my background image goes all the way to the top of the page, but the header is down about 30px. Is there any way to remoive this space? I’ve searched EVERYWHERE!!! Thanks in advance if anyone can help!

  106. ChrisR

    I have noticed that on a posts page that the text for the post title starts farther down the page than on the home page. I know this is just a small quirk, but to keep it clean, I would think the text should line up in the same place on all pages. See my newly setup site that uses this child theme at to see what I mean.

    I just installed NomNom and am not able to upload a header image. It keeps showing as corrupt. Is there something I need to turn on or off in order to get the pictures to show?

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Jas. The header upload has nothing to do withNomNom, that’s a WordPress feature. But just to be sure, go to NomNom Options > Theme Options and select a header size, then click update. Then try to upload a header image.

      NomNom is a child theme, there is no point to creating a child theme for it. Any changes you need to make, make them them NomNom.

    thanks for your products really nice :D
    First of, if you go to my testpage, you’ll see a area, at the left, thats empty. how do make the posts go to the left? secondly, you see that the post thats not the first one, just shows the title. How do i make it show the excerpt?

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Knuth. You’re using the showcase template. It’s designed to only show 1 post, then the titles or the rest. It also uses a special widget area. Go to Appearance > widgets and add a widget to the showcase widget area.

        1. Zeaks

          You can just delete the lines with the paths that don’t exist, it’s a generic admin options panel, I didn’t go through all of the CSS. I’ll remove it from the next version if I decide to release it.

  123. Megan

    Hello, I’m very new at website building, so I apologize is this is an easy fix that I’ve missed; but I’m trying to make one page have no sidebar, but keep the other pages as content left. In twenty eleven it seemed to have an option on the edit page screen to change the template, but in Nomnom I don’t see the “one-column” option. Thanks for any help!

    1. Zeaks

      HI Megan. On the page editor screen there should be an option on the right to select a template to use, select the default template.

      1. Megan

        Well, that only works if I go to theme settings and change my “default” template to one column, and in that case it changes all of my other pages to one column as well. And even when I manually go change the ones I want back to sidebar, they remain one column.

      2. Megan

        Sorry… and in general, is they a way to make all of the template options show in the edit page screen as options? For example, if I want my home (static) page to be three columns, but my calendar page to be on column, and other pages to be sidebar? Currently the only options in my edit page screen are “default,” “sidebar” and “showcase.” Thanks!

        1. Zeaks

          Hi Megan.
          Changing the page template for one page, should not change it for others. If it does, then you have an issue with your site.

          If you want to have different sidebar layouts on different pages, you’ll need to use conditionals, this is not an option in WordPress.

          I am also looking for the same thing but can’t figure it out. As Megan said, currently the only option that shows in drop down are ‘default’, ‘showcase’ and ‘sidebar’. I wanted that my homepage be only one sidebar (left aligned) and all other pages having 3 column/2 sidebar layout.

          Any help please?

    1. Zeaks

      I was just made aware of this, I’ll look into it. You can set posts to use excerpts and it won’t show double content until I fix it.

    I am trying to upload the nomnom childtheme and I am a complete novice, first time working with wordpress and am having some issues. I’m sure it is user related! I have downloaded nomnom. When I go to wp-content and then to themes – I try to upload nomnom and it does not seem to work. Can you advise

  125. matt

    this is perfect! thanks I use twenty eleven a lot, but this saves me lots of time, generally child themes are customized too far but this is JUST right. Thanks a bunch.

    I am trying to use the Featured Slider.
    I see only the titles, and do not see any images. i am unsure as to why.
    Can you have a look and let me know?

      1. Jenna

        Hi! I am having the same issue as the previous poster, I have set Featured Images for my posts, but all I see in the slider is the Post Title, not any images.

        Thanks in advance!

        1. Zeaks

    Hi, I’m trying to make the search box background white all the time, rather than transparent until clicked. I’m stuck! I’ve tried the forums but no luck. Thanks

    @admin : You have really done a wonderful job. I was searching on tutorials to modify twenty eleven theme, so reached your website. Just installed your NomNom theme and found it superb.

    I have used serveral themes before in last 2 years, but you have just made things simplistic then they were ever before.

    Found your theme several time better than original twenty eleven. Hats off dear.
    Nice work, keep it on., you have got one more fan.

    Please help me :(

    Previously I’m using the Twenty Eleven 1.3 theme, and I just wanna try using this NomNom, but when I try to preview it, this message pop-ed out [Fatal error: Cannot redeclare twentyeleven_child_content_nav() (previously declared in / home / colleenk / public_html / wp-content / themes / NomNom / functions.php:78) in / home / colleenk / public_html / wp-content /themes / twentyeleven / functions.php on line 612]

    What’s the meaning of this?

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Zida

      Did you add WP-Pagenavi to your Twenty Eleven theme by following a post from this site? What I think is happening, is if you did add the code for wp-pagenavi to Twenty Eleven following my tutorial here NomNom uses the same functions, so they are conflicting.

      This is why you should always make your changes to a child theme and not the default theme. You’ll need to remove the function from twenty Eleven that you’ve added.

      If this isn’t the case, please open a forum post and I’ll help you.

    Hi, We started to create a catholic church website network for our country. The best theme I ever found is nom nom. I really appreciate your great help to people. I have small problem. Can we add image slider to home page. I created a image category and select it in theme option. But after add pictures to it. It’s only appears when we click one the post. Doesn’t show in the home page. Please let me know if there is a anyway to add slider to home page.

    Thanks in advance.

        1. Zeaks

          Could you link your site please. The slider should work if you have added featured images to posts and selected the category those posts are in, in the slider options. As long as you are not using a static page for the index.

  131. Dana

    I am using this theme and it is great.

    I am just wondering is there is a to override the color and font options. I have my own font and css sheet with custom colors that I want to use.

        1. Zeaks

          You didn’t mention font-face. I’m not familiar with using that, you can always add your css to style.css, just keep in mind it will be overwritten if you upgrade.

  132. Got

    Nuwan great work with the site looks awesome.

    @ Zeaks, you have done a wonderfoul thing with the Nomnom theme, i´m playing with it now.

  133. Michael

    I am trying to run the nivo-slider included in the nom-nom theme.
    I have created a category Featured for the slider including excerpt and featured image. Unfortunately it doesn’t work.
    Can you please help – it’s quite urgent :-)

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Michael. If you’ve set featured images for the posts in the category you selected, the images should display.
      I’m not seeing the image links in firebug.
      Disable plugins to see if one of them is conflicting with the slider, it might be necessary to set the featured images again. Also, make sure you set a header size and saved it in NomNom Options > General options.

      If you continue to have problems and want me to take a look, use the contact form and send me login details.

      1. Michael

        I still have this problem. I’ll send you a PN via contact form.
        Do you have any possibilty to skype or so?

        I wonder if its possible also to display the post content in the slider instead of the title?

        CU later

      It looks like it’s having problems displaying ext shadow. I tried it on my mobile using Opera Mini and it’s not nearly as visible as in the simulator.

      You can remove the text shadow near the top part of style.css or use text-shadow: none;

      According to this page Opera Mini ignores the blur-radius set, so no blur effect is visible. which would explain why it doesn’t look so great in that browser.

      In NomNom 2.0 there is an option to turn off CSS3 effects, but none in the free version.

      Thanks for pointing it out though.

  145. Matt

    This child theme is awesome opens up so many options and variations to the tenty eleven theme

    Can you let me know how I would show a cart 66 shortcode in the excerpts? They show fine in full posts but I need them in the excerpts as well.

    Thanks again, and great theme!

  146. Ashley

    I was wondering if it is possible to edit the content in the footer? I will still leave the credits but I would like to add text before the copyright dates.

    I’ve a problem i cannot fix….
    My sidebar is not looking good. Have a look here :

    I’ve put the free version of numnum.

    I’ve tried with the premium version, I’ve the same problem (altought, I’m not sure I put the folders in the rigth place: do I have to put both of them in “Themes” folder?)

    Please, can you help me?

  151. Mike

    I just try NomNom free version. After installation, there’s error “Cannot redeclare _check_active_widget() (previously declared in …” and another time, error again with different problem “Cannot redeclare wrong_login() (previously declared in ..”. What happens?

  152. Mike

    How can I get the same titles on pages as on post? Title of a page is much bigger now and the font is also different.

    1. Zeaks

      I think this should allow you to change the font size of Page Titles. .singular .entry-title { font-size:22px; } change 22px to whatever size you need.
