NomNom – Twenty Eleven Child Theme

There’s more to this popular theme than just an awesome name and the fact it’s a child theme of Twenty Eleven.
Numerous features and options have been added to save time and make things easy to get your site looking the way you want with just the click of a button.

I’m always thinking up more features to add, so if you have any suggestions feel free to post them on the forums.

  • 8 premade color schemes
  • 6 new layouts including 3 different 3 column layouts
  • Optional Nivo Slider in header with several options to control the look
  • Option to resize the header
  • Support for excerpts with post thumbnails
  • Second menu above the header
  • Extra footer menu area
  • Sidebar on post pages
  • Turn comments off site wide
  • Turn comment bubble, search form, main menu and author post avatars on/off
  • Area to add your own custom CSS that will not be overwritten with an upgrade
  • Google Font selector for most areas
  • Built in related posts under each post with on/off option
  • Template to display adsense in post content
  • Custom Twitter, Flickr, Author Biography widgets
  • WP-PageNavi template and style support, just install and activate
  • Color options for all menu areas
  • Copywrite date in footer years based on first and last published post
  • All code is well commented
  • Dark Scheme child theme support

And more…

Purchase the Premium Version only $5.00!
Download Free!

(all theme purchases include free installation and setup, use the contact form at the top to request it)

The difference between the free version and premium version is as follows. The free version stopped receiving new features at version 1.7 but it will always receive updates and bug fixes. The small premium fee is mostly for those who want to support the time I put into creating and supporting this theme.

    Well done! I’ve been searching for a ‘standard theme’ and I think this is it!
    Here’s a thought for an enhancement. Under ‘Font and Color Options’, allow a separate font, size and color for the site description and then allow the title and description to be overlaid on the header with X & Y offsets. I think positioning interesting typography over simple headers makes a wide range of attractive designs accessible to the amateur.

    How do I remove the blank space above my header image up top. I can see my background image goes all the way to the top of the page, but the header is down about 30px. Is there any way to remoive this space? I’ve searched EVERYWHERE!!! Thanks in advance if anyone can help!

    I have noticed that on a posts page that the text for the post title starts farther down the page than on the home page. I know this is just a small quirk, but to keep it clean, I would think the text should line up in the same place on all pages. See my newly setup site that uses this child theme at to see what I mean.

    @roberto looks like a conflict with your social sharing plugin and recent related posts. You can disable the related posts in NomNom Options, and use a plugin such as nRelate instead if you like.

      Hi Roberto, I’m sorry but I don’t see what the problem is. Could you start a forum post and perhaps post a screenshot of the issue? Thanks.

    I just installed NomNom and am not able to upload a header image. It keeps showing as corrupt. Is there something I need to turn on or off in order to get the pictures to show?

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Jas. The header upload has nothing to do withNomNom, that’s a WordPress feature. But just to be sure, go to NomNom Options > Theme Options and select a header size, then click update. Then try to upload a header image.

    Great Theme! Just what I was looking for.
    Just need a quick help: is this template prepare to be translated? is there a pot file?

    1. FxB

      i checked and the

       add_action('after_setup_theme', 'fxb_setup');
      function fxb_setup() {
      load_child_theme_textdomain('NomNom', get_template_directory() . '/languages');}

      is not implemented in the functions.php file and all the strings are not ready for localization but some are. The back office is not localized but the front end yes.

      It will be nice if the function could be in the next update.

      Zeaks I created the po file for the theme if you are interested let me know

    Is it possible to create my own Child Theme using NomNom? I’m attempting to do so and getting a number of PHP errors about missing files (when I use the child theme). It’s looking for many of the files in my child theme’s folders.

    1. Zeaks

      NomNom is a child theme, there is no point to creating a child theme for it. Any changes you need to make, make them them NomNom.

      1. Babak Naffas

        But now that there is a new version of your theme (1.7), I can’t update without losing some of the changes that I had made. Any suggestions?

    hello zeaks , I have problems with showcase page in the left sidebar …. the widget area overlaps on the recent post … i see this only on the internet explorer … can you help me please?

    1. Zeaks

      Hi Roberto, could you switch your theme to Twenty Eleven and check it in IE and let me know if the issue is still there? What version of IE are you testing it in?

      1. roberto

        hi Zeaks, in twenty eleven the widjet is ok, I have problem only in the showcase page, I tested the version 6 – 7 – 9 of internet explorer

        1. Zeaks

          Did you make any custom CSS adjustments? I notice your comment bubbles are not displaying properly in firefox as well. Isn’t the showcase template only supposed to display titles? I see excerpts on yours.

          I tested NomNom showcase in IE on this site try it in IE yourself, it looks liek it’s displaying properly. The issue must be with whatever customizations you’ve made.

          If you need help with that, please open a forum post.

    Awesome child theme, thank you for sharing! I am using it at

    I lost all 30 of my custom header images upon theme change. Fixed it with:

    update wordpress_database_name.wp_postmeta set = 'NomNom' WHERE meta_key = '_wp_attachment_is_custom_header';

    To get your current theme name:

    SELECT option_value FROM wordpress_database_name.wp_options WHERE option_name = 'current_theme';
